“Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.” Rom. 1:25.

Humanism, generally speaking, refers to a devotion to things human. By humanism we specifically mean the divorcing of things divine or supernatural from the sphere of human influence or existence. This is often referred to as secular humanism. Humanism views man as supreme and self-sufficient, able to know natural things and his self through reason. The offspring of atheism and agnosticism, it has no use for belief in God. Humanism is the spirit of antichrist, denying the Deity, and placing confidence in the flesh alone.

Humanism promotes moral relativism. While paying lip-service to ethical behavior, it is the foremost proponent of rejecting established mores and morality. It is at the heart of what some call the gender-identity crisis of our day. It is the backbone of the pro-abortion movement, which is stained with the blood of untold millions of babies. Humanism is the force behind drug legalization, the usurpation of parental control of children by governments, and the erosion of religious prerogatives and rights.

This is humanism. It is a worshipping of what is created rather than the Creator. It rejects God, the wellspring of all that is good, and lifts up man as the supreme good. It glorifies the capabilities of man, his intellect, and his rationality. At the same time it rather tellingly overlooks his baseness and propensity to evil. Man, the agent of sin, is the cause of all of the evil in the world. How then can he be the means of its deliverance from evil? If man is the ultimate arbiter of ethics and morals, he fails miserably. Can we truly call this age of humanism an enlightened age? People in the dark ages had more moral scruples than the humanists of today!

Since the humanist’s worldview excludes the Divinity, one would think that God-fearing people and those who profess the religion of Jesus Christ would steer as far away from it as possible. Sadly, this has not been the case. Humanistic ideologies have infiltrated the modern churches. From the acceptance of evolutionistic theory (the brainchild of humanism) in the name of “reconciling Christianity with science” to the acceptance of homosexual lifestyles, modern churches have become the vanguard in the promulgation of the humanist agenda.

If the so-called church, which is supposed to be the moral conscience of humankind, joins hands with ideologies diametrically opposed to God and holiness, what is to become of society? Disintegration. Chaos. And that is just what we see today. The moral fabric of society is unraveling at breakneck speed.

The Christian religion is irrevocably and unabashedly theistic. It is not based upon a belief in man, but on a holy and benevolent God who concerns Himself with the salvation of His fallen creation. Christianity countenances no mixture with the unbiblical and immoral worldview of humanism.

God is looking for a people who will stand against the lies of sin and Satan. Mark you, it will take no little moral courage to do so against the tidal wave of spiritual compromise and outright darkness unleashed in the world today.

Then, by the grace of God, we serve notice to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit now working in the children of disobedience: We give you no apologies. We will not bow down to your humanistic idol, nor serve it. We will not feed our children to the ideological crocodiles of your Nile. We defy you in the name of the Creator and will work against you at every possible opportunity, in every place in which we find your influence, and by any spiritually lawful means. We will not be deterred by the epithets hurled at us. Let every lover of truth join the ranks.
